PENRO spearheads ‘Walk’ Apr 24 for Earth Day

EARTH DAY in Pangasinan will be observed with a Walk-For-A-Cause to be followed by a mini-concert on Tuesday, April 24. .
Officer-in-charge Leduina Co of the provincial environment and natural resources office said the Alay Lakad Para sa Kalikasan will pass along the main thoroughfare of Dagupan City. The activity starts at 7 a.m.
A short program to include a mini-concert follows at the People’s Astrodome. Singer Gary Granada is expected to attend, she said.
Co said the activity aims to generate awareness and support among Pangasinenses for a clean and green environment. The theme for this year’s Earth Day celebration is “Stewardship in Action.”
“Global warming, depletion of resources, drought, floods and other calamities threaten the Earth’s existence because of greed and carefree behavior of some people,” she noted in a letter inviting would-be participants to the activity including employees of other government agencies. .
Earth Day is observed annually to draw consciousness and participation among people for the protection and conservation of Mother Earth, she said. (
