Cop’s remains, victim of NPA, exhumed
CAMP BGEN OSCAR FLORENDO, La Union – Another victim of summary execution by the communist New People’s Army was discovered in eastern Pangasinan.
Government troopers dug up skeletal remains of a policeman in a shallow grave in Mt. Baldos, barangay Maseil-seil, Umingan, near the Nueva Ecija border.
Police Regional Director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil, told newsmen the skeletal remains were that of SPO4 Esteban Bravo, a member of the Regional Intelligence Group of the Police Regional Office 3 based in Camp Olivas, Pangasinan.
The policemen was a native of barangay Caranay in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija.
Bataoil said elements of the Pangasinan police office and the Philippines Army’s 701st Brigade exhumed the remains of Bravo with the aid of two rebel returnees who confirmed the killing of the policeman by the NPA last year.
The two rebel returnees said they were with Bravo when he was still a prisoner of the NPA, Bataoil said.
Bravo’s rebel captors reportedly tied his neck with nylon cord while his feet were tied with a chain and padlocked.
Bravo was allegedly blindfolded before he was killed and buried at Mt. Baldos.
His remains were brought to Camp Kapitan Berong in Guimba, Nueva Ecija for proper disposition. (PNA)
