MALASIQUI – The police here warned the public, especially businessmen, about the circulation of counterfeit P500 peso bills by still unknown persons.

Supt. Harris Fama, chief of police of Malasiqui, issued the warning after two pieces of fake P500 bills were surrendered to his office by a refrigeration-air conditioner technician who said it was given him as payment of his labor.

SAN JUAN, Ilocos Sur – A former close-in security officer of the late President Ferdinand Marcos has lauded the administration of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for what he described as the steady rise of the economy during the past few months.

Benjamin Sarmiento, now mayor of San Juan town, praised the initiative of the President in stabilizing the country’s economy through her economic reform agenda.

Sarmiento cited President Arroyo’s firmness in the implementation of different policies to resolve the economic crisis in the country.

THE city of Dagupan will soon be a recipient of U.S. 300,000 dollars as one of six places in the Philippines chosen as pilot sites under the “Sustainable Sanitation in East Asia” project.

The project, to be implemented in four years, is under the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and the World Bank’s water sanitation program.
Both SIDA and World Bank are bankrolling the project.

The City Health Office said the project aims to address sanitation problems and concerns in urban and rural areas.
