Night market returns to Dagupan
A TIANGGE-type Tinday Labi will be launched on November 10 along A.B. Fernandez Avenue to bring life to the downtown area during the night business- and tourism-wise, it was learned Friday.
Councilor Nick Aquino said the night market (the section from Rizal Avenue down to the city plaza) would be open to all vendors selling various kinds of goods. The idea was copied from Cagayan de Oro City, Makati and Hong Kong, he said.
He said musical bands have been invited too.
Tinday Labi chairman Denis Canto of the badminton association said the market will operate only on Fridays and Saturdays. He asked all exhibitors, traders, businessmen from all over the province to showcase their products. A minimal fee is charged to the occupants. The experiment will last up to November 25.
The road section is vacated at around 2 a.m., he said.
If successful, the market will operate during this time of Christmas holidays and city fiesta. If needed, the project will continue up to next year, Canto told a radio interview. (DOS/PIA)
