THE National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) reported that as of 2 p.m. yesterday, Saturday, power restoration in the Luzon grid stands at 62% equivalent to a load of 3,200 megawatts.
The state firm added it has repaired and energized the vital Sucat-Araneta 230-kV line at 8 p.m. yesterday to further increase the reliability of the Luzon Grid.
TransCo is now focusing its restoration works in Southern Luzon and the Bicol Region which were the most badly hit by the typhoon. In Cavite where over 70 TransCo wood poles were toppled or left leaning by the typhoon, TransCo and Meralco are helping each other to hasten the restoration process.

PHARMACISTS are required to stay at drugstores from opening to closing, the Bureau of Food and Drug Administration stressed Tuesday.
Food and drug regulatory officer Ryan Lewis of the BFAD office based in Dagupan City said that a drugstore found to be violating this policy may face sanctions like temporary closure or fine. He noted however the difficulty of BFAD in monitoring all pharmacies in Pangasinan. In Dagupan alone, there are some 44 drugtores.

DENGUE is “very much controlled” in Region 1 and the number of cases this year is lower compared to last year, Health Regional Director Eduardo Janairo told newsmen Wednesday.
Janairo also clarified that no outbreak of the disease can yet be declared in the region or in Pangasinan as dengue incidents were only sporadic for the last several months since January.
He noted that the definition for an outbreak is “very relative” pointing out that the health department may declare an outbreak even with only a single incident of uncommon diseases like avian flu or the highly dreaded SARS as had happened in Alcala town some two years ago.

SUPREME Court Administrator Christopher Lock revealed here that seven cases involving death of judges have remained unsolved to date.
Interviewed by newsmen shortly after addressing the launching of a legal assistance program for detainees of the local chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines recently, Lock admitted that one judge who was killed was from Pangasinan.
He was Judge Oscar Uson of Branch 52 in Tayug who was killed by still unknown assassins while he was driving home from work along the Asingan-Sta. Maria bridge some five years ago.

Project PROMISE partners from other Asian cities are coming to Dagupan City on Thursday October 5 to see the status and progress of the project which is being benchmarked by the international project implementers.
“Dagupan City is ahead in the implementation of the project, that is why our PROMISE partners will be here to study what we have done so far,” Civil Defense Coordinator and Public Order and Safety Office chief Robert Erfe-Mejia said.

THE Technical Working Group (TWG) of project PROMISE is all set to produce a manual for early warning system and evacuation planning on disaster preparedness.
The TWG for the project PROMISE (Program for Hydro-Meteorological Disaster Mitigation in Secondary Cities in Asia) planned the publication of the manual during a three-day early warning system and evacuation planning workshop on September 12 to 14 at the city museum.

THE city government of Dagupan is pushing for the construction of the proposed Perez Boulevard-AB Fernandez East Avenue-Tebeng-San Miguel diversion road in line with Mayor Benjamin Lim’s vision of decongesting traffic as well as opening a new growth area in the city.
According to CMO’s Rudy Fernandez, executive assistant II, the proposed diversion road is currently being pursued by the Lim administration to provide motorists and the riding public traversing Calasiao, Caranglaan, Mayombo and AB Fernandez Avenue faster travel time.
