Lomibao ‘irrigating’ Pangasinan voters

MALASIQUI – Although already recently appointed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as administrator of the National Irrigation Administration, retired Police Director General Arturo Lomibao is still going around in Pangasinan as though trying to feel the pulse of the people on a possible bid for governorship.
Lomibao was here recently to open a call center for relatives of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in various parts of the world under his program Project Compassion which he launched last week in Dagupan City through a radio program at Aksyon Radyo Dagupan.
Call centers have also been opened in his own hometown of Mangaldan, Manaoag, Urdaneta, Tayug, San Manuel, Lingayen and Alaminos City.
All these will enable relatives of OFWs here to contact their relatives working in various countries at any time, free of charge.
“We would like the people of Pangasinan to get in touch with their relatives abroad. Just hearing their relatives on the phone will make them happy,” he explained the reason for the project.
Asked if he was doing this as a launching pad for his candidacy for Pangasinan governor, Lomibao said this is just a continuation of his public service which he started when he joined the Philippine Constabulary after graduating from the Philippine Military Academy.
He admitted he has not given much thought about a possible run for the governorship of Pangasinan.
Should he decide to run for governor, Lomibao is expected to face a deep field of candidates, now that incumbent Gov. Victor Agbayani is not eligible for reelection anymore.
