Fast lane for dengue patients at R1MC

A FAST lane was created at the Region 1 Medical Center here for suspected patients of dengue fever being brought into the hospital for immediate medical attention.

Dr. Jesus Canto, R1MC chief, said this is in line with the recent memorandum of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III ordering that dengue patients be given the utmost medical attention that they need.

Under Duque’s memorandum, dengue patients are a priority in all government hospitals throughout the country, Canto said.

With the fast lane, Canto said, dengue patients need not go through the usual admission procedures anymore but straight to the special ward for dengue patients where they can be attended to by doctor’s immediately.

Canto however stressed that dengue patients at the hospital are still negligible to date.
He again called on residents of Pangasinan to make their homes and environment clean in order to avoid the dengue disease which is now a cause of concern in some parts of the country.

“It is better that we clean our surroundings than resorting to fogging operations which is quite costly aside from its being less effective.

In Dagupan, the city health office is now conducting combined fogging operations and larvicidal control to kill and drive away the Aedis aegypti mosquito which is the carrier of dengue.
