ROSALES – Thousands of Pangasinenses from all walks of life joined the nationwide synchronized tree planting along the national highways in Pangasinan.
In Rosales, local government officials and employees led by Vice Mayor Romeo Sim, policemen headed by Supt. Ernesto Abuan, barangay officials led by Liga ng mga Barangay president Rogelio Cabanada, together with personnel from DENR-Region 1 and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-Urdaneta planted narra, banaba and ornamental plants along the national highway in barangay Carmen Friday morning.

They were joined by policemen from the 107th Provincial Mobile Group, students and faculty members of the Luzon College of Science and Technology, as well as, members of non-government organizations.
A memorandum of agreement was later signed between DENR and the local government of Rosales, represented by Sim.
Having adopted the tree saplings planted along the national highway at Carmen West, part of the responsibility of the local government is to fertilize (if needed), protect and ensure that the saplings will grow.
Narra saplings were planted by the roadside clear of transmission lines, Enrile said. On the other hand, banaba and other ornamental plants were planted at the other side of the road where the transmissions lines are standing.
Meanwhile, the Pangasinan Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation headed by Board Member Jolly R. Resuello, in coordination with the Urdaneta SK Federation led by Councilor Jesus Basco, conducted a tree planting activity in Urdaneta City last Sunday.
It was the third locality the SK provincial federation had so far conducted tree planting activity at this year.
The group’s first tree planting project was held at the foot of Mt. Balungao in Balungao town near the town’s hot and cold springs. They went next to Agno town in Western Pangasinan.
