32 GK housing units awarded August 30
CITY Mayor Benjamin Lim and officials from Iwata City, Japan will award 32 additional housing units to the family beneficiaries of the Gawad Kalinga-Bangusville housing project on August 30.
Lim along with the Japanese officials will lead the awarding ceremony as well as the turn over of the symbolic key to the indigent beneficiaries at the Gawad Kalinga site in Bonuan Gueset.
According to Ricky Castillo, GK project coordinator, the housing project has given priority to the homeless and less privileged citizens of the city, especially the poorest of the poor who are affected by the construction of the Dawel-Pantal-Lucao diversion road, Pantal Bridge and the Perez Boulevard extension project.
He added that most of the family beneficiaries come from Brgy. Pantal, Arellano and PNR site.
Lim cited the continued building of houses in GK-Bangusville as the city’s contribution to the ongoing construction of the Pantal-Dawel-Lucao diversion road and the Pantal Bridge project.
Castillo said the GK-Bangusville site already has its own learning center for GK children donated by CFC members from Maryland, USA and a multi-purpose hall courtesy of the Rotary Club of Dagupan East.
The housing project of the city has to date already provided 74 housing units for the homeless and less privileged citizens. (CIO/Leziel T. Cayabyab)
