PRESIDENT Macapagal-Arroyo had advocated Charter change even before she became president contrary to claims she wants it now for her to stay in power, Cha-cha advocates claimed Thursday.
The President ran in the 2004 elections with Charter change as part of her platform and was also part of her 2004 State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the medium term development plan, according to the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), which also stressed that it is now the time to amend the 1987 Constitution to make it responsive and attuned to the challenges of the times.

LABRADOR – Privatization of the National Transmission Commission in on course, TransCo president Dr. Alan Ortiz told newsmen here Tuesday.
Ortiz said there are five parties interested to operate TransCo to date and set to submit their respective bids with the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) which handles privatization.
TransCo is a government corporation in charge of providing the highways for the safe transmission of power to power distributing centers, such as electric franchise holders and cooperatives.

LABRADOR – A tougher measure against cable thieves was sought in the province of Pangasinan following the resurgence of theft of cable wires of many public utilities, resulting in heavy losses for them.
The latest to complain against cable thieves was the Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) whose officials said the culprits have not spared their ground wires attached to their lightning arresters.
Augusto Sarmiento, Decorp operations managers, said records show that his company had been victimized several times by thieves who steal their ground wires and sell these to junkshops for only a few cash.

LABRADOR - A Korean firm is now putting up a multi-million dollar ship buildings factory at Subic in Zambales while another Korean firm is set to put up two power plants in theVisays very soon.
This was revealed by Dr. Alan Ortiz, president of the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) in his speech during the inauguration of TransCo’s newly-built 100 Mega-Volt Ampere power transformer in Labrador
Both Korean investments could help develop the country’s economy and provide employment to thousands of unemployed Filipinos who need not to go abroad anymore in order to earn.

LINGAYEN – The provincial government and the University of the Philippines-Marine Environment and Resources Foundation (UP-MERF) headed by Dr. Josefa Pante are joining hands to fully implementation the Sagip Lingayen Gulf program of the province.
This joint undertaking will be formally launched with the signing of a memorandum of conservation partnership agreement between Gov. Victor E. Agbayani and Dr. Pante on July 21 at Covelandia du Labrador in Labrador town.
