Column: Smorgasbord / Striking Women
OUR congratulations to the bowling team of the Women Lawyers Association of the Philippines (WLAP)-Pangasinan chapter led by Judge Genoveva Maramba for ruling the All Women’s Bowling Tournament held last Saturday afternoon at the CSI the City Mall Bowlodrome.
The bowling tournament was a joint project of the Kiwanis Club of Dagupeña, Metro Dagupan (headed by fellow media practitioner Minnie Caburnay) and the office of Dagupan City Councilor Farah Marie G. Decano.
The project was still in connection with the Women’s Month Celebration. Councilor Decano chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s committee on women.
First runner-up was PATRIMA (Pangasinan Tri-Media Association) ladies team led by Buenafe Aquino and this writer. Second runner-up was the Girl Scout bowling team Dagupan City National High School.
Other participants were Dagupan City Police Station (two teams), KC Dagupeña, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Milo/Call Center Academy, and a group of students from Lyceum Northwester University (I think I miss the name of one team, my apology).
WLAP earned a total score of 1,370 in the three games, Girl Scouts scored 1,182 while the PATRIMA ladies scored 1,018.
Judge Maramba recorded the Highest Triple and Highest Single.
KC Dagupeña would like to thank Councilor Farah for her unending support to the club (our first major partnership was the construction of a Daycare Center at the back of the BJMP district jail in Bonuan Tondaligan). Another project is in the drawing board.
Also to Dagupan City police chief Supt. Edgar O. Basbas who divided his policewomen and non-uniformed personnel into two, and for sponsoring the snacks for all the participants; to Coca-Cola through Mr. Mar Santiago; and of course to Jean, the secretary of Atty. Farah.
It was more of a fun game, and everybody enjoyed laughing at their own ‘canals’ As Atty. Decano said during the simple opening program, the bowling tournament was conceived during the birthday of my daughter Leila (her inaanak). Leila was also there (as nobody was home to take care of her), tiring her papa Allan who was running all over the place as my little toddler walked and and walked to explore the area.
