15-T Binmaley schooltots get free bags

BINMALEY – Some 15,000 pupils and students in public elementary and high school received their school bags or back packs Tuesday through the courtesy of the municipal government.

Mayor Simplicio Rosario distributed the school bags, which he said, is the municipal government’s own way of helping the education of pupils and students of Binmaley, especially those belonging to poor families.

Last year, the municipal government linked up with overseas residents of the town who donated computers to a few public schools for their students to keep with the news trends and the latest technology available in the cyberspace.

The overseas Binmalenians promised to send computers and books each year to enhance public education of children of their townmates back home.

The school bags for school children was drawn from the municipal budget approved by the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor and presiding officer Jeffrey de los Angeles.

Each bag, including T shirt and a few school supplies, costs P100.

Rosario noted the increase in enrolment in public elementary schools this year, which, he said, showed the keen interest of children to go to school and obtain formal education.

“We will do our share to help keep the children, especially of poor families, to be in school because we want all the people of Binmaley, if possible, to be literate,” he said.

The municipal government according to Rosario, is also contributing 50 percent of the expense for electricity and water consumption of all public schools in the town.
