Thousands join provincial jobs fair
LINGAYEN- Thousands of jobseekers coming from different parts of the province trooped to the recently concluded Jobs Fair at the Sison Auditorium here.
Alex Ferrer, head of the Provincial Employment and Service Office (PESO), said that job generation continues to be one of the top priorities of Gov. Victor E. Agbayani under the latter’s Vision and Action Program.
Ferrer said that as of May 16, 1,312 applicants have registered. A total of 3,234 vacancies are open from various companies, 1457 of these for local employment and 1,777 for overseas placements, Ferrer said.
Seventy-nine job applicants were selected on the spot for local employment and 98 applicants are set to take their examinations.
Ferrer said 281 applicants were considered for further interview and 52 applicants were given tests for local employment.
For overseas employment, there were 263 applicants for further evaluation.
Aside from the expansion of the livelihood assistance program, Agbayani is enlisting the support of the private sector in providing employment opportunities to Pangasinenses, Ferrer said.
Among the participating agencies were Aim High International, Athena Int’l. Manpower Services Inc., Jeremiah Queen Int’l Services, PERT/CPM Manpower Exponent Inc., Al Assal Manpower Inc., Golden Horizon, International Quality Manpower(IQMAN) and La Swerte Manpower.
The jobs fair was participated in by large companies such as St. Gabriel International, Watsons Personal Care, Rohm Apollo Semi-Conductor Phils., Fujitsu Computer Products, Magic Group of Companies, Panaderia Antonio/Plato Wraps, HR Specialist Inc., Cyber City Teleservices, Dagupan Electric Corporation, Faith in God/NANOX, Pr4 Gaz Inc., St. Joseph Drugstore, Clientlogic, St. Peter Life Plan, EEI Corporation, DM Consunji Inc., S & F Corporation and Motortrade.
