Business exec exhorts studes: ‘RP will become great nation’

A TOP business executive in the country believes that despite its present troubles, the Philippine will soon become a great Asian nation.

Jose Ma. Concepcion III, special consultant of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on entrepreneurship and president and chief executive officer of the RFM Group of Companies, told graduates of the University of Luzon here recently that “the Philippine will definitely become a great nation”.

He cited their family-owned business, PhilHOmes, which noted that 70 percent of those buying real estates from them in Metro Manila as well as the provinces are overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the United States, Saudi Arabia and Europe.

“If Filipinos abroad believed that the Philippines, as a country ahs a future as seen by their buying of real estates, it is a surprise that the Filipinos who live here do not believe that there is a future,” he said.

He told students not to be discouraged by newspapers reports that the Philippine is going nowhere.

Stressing that the opportunities in the Philippine are coming, Concepcion called on students to think positive and have the optimism that trough entrepreneurship, some of the students can make their first millions in the Philippines.

He cited the battle cry “Go Negosyo” which seeks to rally people, including businessmen, to be optimistic, pointing out that there is no entrepreneur who has a negative mind.

“If you are surrounded by people who are negative, who don’t believe in success, who believe in the idea that is all negative, get away from that friend,” he advised. Saying that entrepreneurship “is a mindset”, he asked the students how many of them believe that the Philippines could be a great nation. Only a few hands were raised.

Concepcion then said entrepreneurship should start from the mind, adding that if one has to succeed, he has to be optimistic and believe that the country will soon experience an economic turn-around.
