LINGAYEN – It looked straight out of an action movie scene.

The police are investigating a shooting incident in Villasis town Saturday night where a policeman was shot and wounded by two other policeman aboard a motorcycle before the two were themselves run over and killed by an Isuzu 10-wheeler truck coming from the opposite direction.

Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Alan Purisima has ordered a deeper investigation into the shooting among the police officers during an apparent chase that culminated in barangay Bacag, Villasis at about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Wounded in the right arm as a result of the shooting was SPO1 Rufo Dalisay, intelligence officer of the Rosales Police, who was driving his owner-type jeep going south with two men on board, Allan Bonete and Cliforio Bascos, both of Poblacion Zone IV in Villasis.

Bonete and Bascos were unscathed.

It was PO2 Ronaldo Esteban, 34, a member of the Basista police who was riding on a Suzuki motorcycle driven by PO1 James Lu, a policeman assigned at Camp Crame who, apparently shot Dalisay.

Although wounded, Dalisay still managed to drive his jeep towards and sideswipe the motorcycle, shoving it to the left where it collided with the 10-wheeler truck driven by Eddie Gramage, 39, traveling in the opposite direction.

Both Esteban and Lu died on the spot as a result of the collision while Dalisay was brought to the Polymedic Trauma Center in Villasis for immediate treatment.

The driver of the 10-wheeler truck surrendered to the Villasis Police under Chief Inspector Jimmy Agtarap.

Police investigators found one Cal. 38 revolver believed to be owned by Esteban and a Cal. 45 with magazine containing seven live ammunition said to be owned by SPO1 Lu.

The owner-type jeep had two bullet holes on its front windshield.

Purisima said background investigation is now being conducted on all the policemen involved.
He hinted that unless somebody ordered Esteban and Lu to eliminate Dalisay, it was unusual for them to just shoot Dalisay. (PNA)
