City hall workers receive additional P1,000 allowance

CITY government officials and employees of Dagupan City will finally receive their additional P1,000 monthly allowance after the Sangguniang Panlungsod unanimously approved on Monday a supplemental budge amounting to P5.2 million.

Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez, acknowledging the urgency of the appropriation ordinance, said the additional budget was also necessary to ensure that the city government’s operations is not disrupted, especially in the implementation of programs and services.

These programs include ecological and sanitation, public enterprise and revenue generation, development management, health services, security and protective services, agricultural services, nutrition, cultural heritage council, publication and information, tourism, anti-hawking, legislative services, traffic management, peace and order and peoples law enforcement board.

Councilor Michael Fernandez, SP majority leader and chair of the finance committee, said that the P1,000 additional allowance is mandated by Budget Circular No. 2006-2 dated March 2, 2006.

“The additional compensation is retroactive to January and therefore, each of the almost 550 city government employees and officials will receive P3,000 each, covering the increase of their allowances from January to March this year,” Fernandez said.

In moving for the immediate approval of the appropriation ordinance during the session, Fernandez said that supplemental budget came from the reversion of P3 million personal services savings of various offices of the city government and the rest, P2.2 million, came from the 2005 budge surplus.

Fernandez also said that of the P5.2 million, P1.638 million will be utilized for the additional compensation allowance.
