CITY Mayor Benjamin S. Lim asked Bonuan Gueset Brgy. Captain Rico Mejia in a letter last March 16 check out and report on complaints that some barangay funds remain unaccounted up to the present.

Lim directed Mejia to unearth the alleged unaccounted funds in the form of fees and other collections involving barangay treasurer Bong Legaspi.

“I trust your judgment on the selection of the appointed officials and be reminded on our sworn duty to uphold the public interest at all times and practice the time-honored principle that “public office is a public trust,” Lim said as he asked Mejia to urgently submit his report to him.

Aside from the unaccounted funds, Lim said there are persistent reports about Legaspi’s being into illegal drugs and other nefarious activities.

Recently, Legaspi was arrested by members of Dagupan Police in Bonuan, this city. Found on him were two sachets of shabu.

“Its unfortunate na nahulihan sila ng iligal na droga ngunit bigyan natin sila ng pagkakataong ipagtanggol ang kanilang sarili sa korte at kung mapatunayang totoo ay dapat silang magdusa,” Lim said.

In a radio interview, Lim said he will request the Sangguniang Panlungsod to immediately pass a resolution mandating all city government officials to undergo drug test.
