Kaalaman ng Bayan ICT Plan launched
ALAMINOS CITY – The city government has teamed up with Everything Online to launch last Friday the first Information-Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure Project in the country here at the home of the world famous Hundred Islands.
Known as Kaalaman Ng Bayan (KNB) Strategic ICT Plan, this landmark initiative of the Braganza administration provides extensive internet connectivity to the city residents, especially the students and youth in all of the 41 public elementary and high schools in the city.
Mayor Hernani A. Braganza was joined by Macky Samaco-Everything Online president, PLDT Product Manager Blue Aldridge, Asian Tech Business Corporate Manager Imelda Dela Vega, MYEMR Solutions Sales Manager Christopher Ledesma and Ronnie Nery of NetVoice in the MOA signing and ribbon-cutting rites.
The project complements the city’s ICT Center which was established almost two year’s ago in cooperation with Canadian NGO- Engineers Without Borders (EWB).
The ICT center currently teaches out-of-school youths including local government employees and school teachers even barangay officials in the city basic computer courses for free.
Out-of-school youths who have undergone basic training course will be assessed and post trained by TESDA before they will be given certifications and diplomas as their “passport” to land better jobs.
During the weeklong Global Homecoming Celebration, hundreds of Alaminian students and guests including Mayor Braganza and government employees enjoyed free internet based services at the air-conditioned KNB container van stationed at Agri-Trade Fair grounds from 8 AM to 6 PM.
