Transition gov’t: ‘Am not in on that,’ says ex-Gov Orbos

FORMER Pangasinan Gov. Oscar Orbos has denied he was a party to the supposed plan to set up a transition government that could have been formed had the coup attempt against President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo succeeded last month.

Orbos was interviewed by newsmen shortly after addressing the Evangelical Business People and Entrepreneurs for Social Transformation (eBest), a business-Christian group, during their convention Monday at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome.

He was reported to have met with Armed Forces Chief of Staff Generoso Senga but Orbos flatly denied having met Senga nor any general or any officer of the AFP for that matter.

The former governor and host of the late Thursday night television show called “Debate” laughed off reports that he will be invited by the police or military for his alleged link to the supposed transition council.

He said those who were allegedly inviting him should better talk to Senga himself and ask him whatever is it that they talked about.

“Maybe they should ask him (Senga). I have not talked to General Senga neither to any general or any active member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” he said.

The report also mentioned the name of former Defense Secretary Renato de Villa in the supposed transition council.

Orbos, governor of Pangasinan from 1995 to 98, admitted that the transition issue, was openly discussed as among the options or alternatives in may discussions and for a in academes, like Ateneo and La Salle.
