Urdaneta cop chief sacked
URDANETA CITY – For failing to curb illegal gambling, the city police chief here was sacked by Camp Crame itself.
Sr. Supt. Alan Purisima, provincial police director, confirmed the relief of Supt. Johnny Bacbac as he warned his men in the field to perform well and stop illegal activities or face sanctions and summary relief.
Bacbac was recommended relieved by the anti-illegal gambling task force which recently raided some ameneng and video karera operations in the city.
The Philippine National Police has adopted the so-called one-strike policy to stop all forms of illegal gambling. Police chiefs face sanctions like reassignments once a raid is staged in their areas of concern.
Purisima said he has adopted the same policy, noting that PNP chief Director General Arturo Lomibao is really serious in curbing illegal gambling.
Police Supt. Paquito Navarrete replaced Bacbac as city police chief. (PIA/DOS)
