Police securing all vital installations in Pangasinan
LINGAYEN — The police are now securing all vital installations in Pangasinan in view of the still continuing threat of destabilization by both rightist and leftist groups with the aid of their civilian backers.
A report said that Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Alan Purisima has deployed policemen around the San Roque Multi-Purpose Project in San Manuel town, the Sual Coal-Fired Power Plant as well as the power stations of the National Transmission Corporation (Transco) located in Labrador and San Manuel towns.
Both power plants supply electric power to the Luzon grid.
Also being secured are communications towers and facilities of various telecommunications companies located in the province that may be sabotaged by elements of the destabilization forces.
The move may have been prompted text messages from still unidentified sources warning that several vital installations are targeted for sabotage by the destabilization forces.
The police have set up checkpoints along highways in several towns of Pangasinan to thwart any attempt by unlawful elements in Pangasinan. Police units have already started to enforce the ban on the carrying of firearms outside of residence even if the holders have licenses for these guns.
