Fil-Chinese award Purisima amid seeming robbery wave

SOME sectors may not like him, but a group of Chinese-Filipino businessmen has commended the police provincial director for doing his job.

The Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Central Pangasinan thru its director, Rosendo Go commended Sr. Supt. Alan Purisima during a conference of the group last Wednesday at the Pangasinan Universal Institute.

Purisima, as guest speaker, outlined before the group his thrusts in the campaign against criminality in the province.

Ironically, some sectors particularly the media are not happy with Purisima’s performance, criticizing him for not being open with the media.

Even the provincial government seems dissatisfied with his performance.

It was learned that Vice-Gov. Oscar B. Lambino lately wrote PNP chief Director General Arturo Lomibao about the alarming rise of robbery incidents in Pangasinan the past few weeks.

Only last week, three big robbery incidents took place one after the other in Urdaneta, Alaminos and Villasis with the suspects carting away some P2 million from the victims.
The vice-governor had earlier voiced out his concern about Purisima’s below par performance.

Gov. Victor E. Agbayani thru provincial administrator Virgilio Solis followed this up and directed the provincial director to intensify the campaign against illegal gambling machines called “hataw” and “ameneng”and robbery holdups.

Reports said that Purisima may soon be reassigned to his home province of Nueva Ecija, where, some reports said, he often goes when he is not in the province.

Meanwhile, some 41 video machines called ameneng and hataw were destroyed last Thursday at the Dagupan PNP station. There are now some 72 machines destroyed since December, Purisima said.
