Photo: Chinese New Year

CHINESE NEW YEAR last Sunday, finds local Chinese, Tsinoys and even plain Pangalatoks busy picking out their own good luck and good health items at a Chinese stall on Arellano St.. The Chinese traditional charms have taken hold of the local populace too, perhaps in line with their having a Tsinoy in Benjamin S. Lim for their mayor. Please click here for related story. Please don’t use the word Pangalatok for Pangasinense
people. The said word is very offensive. There is no word such like that in the Pangasinan dictionary. THANK YOU.

Much obliged, ma’m. There is no word like “tsinoy” either but it’s all being used here in the context of journalistic license. No desire to be pejorative of our own ethnic roots ..but no desire to argue with you either. Thanks for reading us — and the comment. Point well taken. ..BFH
