Rang-ay Bank celebrates 50th anniversary

RANG-AY BANK, the biggest rural bank in the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, celebrated its 50th Anniversary last January 14. A luncheon program called Gintong Pasasalamat kicked off the year-long celebration at the Ilocandia Hall of the Oasis Country Resort in San Fernando City.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando M. Tetangco came as guest of honor and speaker. Land Bank of the Philippines President Gilda E. Pico later led the ceremonial toast at the launching of the Rang-ay Bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and Website.

Rang-ay Bank, the first privately-owned bank in the province of La Union, started as a single-unit rural bank on January 16, 1956. Its founders were civic-spirited leaders of the region, led by Doña Numeriana Tavora-Querol and don Teofilo A. Nisce. It now has 11 banking offices spread out in the two regions with four more opening this year.

Ives Q. Nisce, the banks president and CEO, delivered the welcome remarks, followed by a preview of the bank’s latest audio-visual presentation and the singing of corporate jingle.
Among the guests of honor were La Union Governor Victor F. Ortega and San Fernando City Mayor Mary Jane Ortega. Rang-ay Chair Eufrosina Q. Nisce shared her thoughts on the bank’s high and low points throughout its existence.

Senior Manager Ives Jesus C. Nisce II delivered the closing remarks after the awarding ceremonies.
