A ROBBERY try on an overseas worker Thursday afternoon on Nable street in barangay Tapuac, this city, was foiled partly due to the beat system being implemented by the city police.

Couple Jun and Milagros Osilla had just withdrawn P190,000 from the Metrobank branch on A.B. Fernandez avenue when a man suddenly tried to grab Milagros’ bag as she was walking toward the Pangasinan Medical Center on Nable Street, police investigators said.

Failing to grab the bag, the man and a companion fired at her as she tried to run. She was hit in the left ankle.

The suspects fled on a motorcycle, a blue green Honda Wave, driven by another person. Police claimed the presence of beat patrolmen in the area forced the suspects to just let go of their target and flee.

The couple is working in London and was on its way to visit a close relative who was said to be confined at the PMC. (DOS)
